Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire to attend the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actor and for many years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned singing dancing and acting. As part of a school production and an Stagecoach show, she took as the lead role at age 10, and acted. Casting began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma via her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been selected for the roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first screen appearance was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in 2001. The film set records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature of 2001. Critics were impressed with the performance of the film as well as its story. The highly distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma's performance received nominations and later won awards for the movie.
